12 Tips for Moving to Your New Office Location Part 2

Our Toronto movers share more great moving tips to help you plan and prepare for moving to your new office location. If you missed Part 1, please feel free to check it out too for six more great office moving tips!

Tip #7: Get Rid of Anything You Don’t Need or Want

You may have old computers, office furniture, or other such things that are taking up space in your current office. It makes no sense to move these to your new office if they are not being used. Take the time to get rid of them by donating them or recycling them.

Tip #8: Take Advantage of Professional Packing Services

If your office movers offer professional packing services, consider using them. This service is where your movers will pack up everything in your office for you, so you don’t have to. If you choose to use this service, make sure you allow sufficient time to pack and relocate your office based on how much that needs to be packed.

Your mover may be willing to start packing non-essential items in advance of your move to scale down the volume of packing as your moving day approaches.

Tip #9: Be Prepared for the Unexpected

No matter how much you plan, prepare, and get ready for your office move, things can and do go awry. The weather might not cooperate and downpour or snow. There could be delays with getting into your new office because of closing issues or the previous tenant did not vacate the space on time. Make sure you have a backup plan in place.

Tip #10: Try to Overlap Your Move-Out and Move-In

If possible, try to allow for some overlap between the two office locations. If you can start moving into the new location while still having a week in the old location, you will be able to adjust your move if necessary and have a little bit of flexibility.

Tip #11: Verify Everything You Are Moving Will Fit

If you are downsizing office locations, this tip is essential. You don’t want to be cramped and overcrowded in your new location. Even if you are keeping the same amount of space or increasing it, you still need to verify everything will fit, like conference room tables.

Have your moving manager take measurements of larger furniture pieces, cubicles, and other such things so you can confirm they will work with your new office layout.

Tip #12: Host a “Thank You” Celebration

Once you are situated in your new office, hosting a “Thank You” celebration is a great way to not only thank your employees but also allows you the opportunity to invite your customers to check out your new location.

Moving to an office can be a lot of work. By using these tips, planning ahead, and hiring professional movers, you will be on your way to having a successful office move.
